Educational Administrators promote an environment of professional learning and innovation that empowers educators to enhance student learning through the infusion of contemporary technologies and digital resources.
Teachers need to grow and reflect as educators as well as have a support system. To be able to provide the resources and time for teachers to be able to effectively learn how to use technology is key to help them become comfortable with consistently and effectively using it in their classroom. Also, when you open the lines of communication among your faculty and staff through professional learning communities, it builds a trusting and effective learning environment. As a leader, I want my staff and faculty to know that I support them in the classroom as well as in their professional growth and development. Staff and students also need to know that what they are teaching and learning is relevant as well as current. Finally, I want the students to know that we value their education and that we are going to do everything in our power to help them become successful not only in their academic career but in society.

I agree with you in the fact that we want to support our staff and faculty in their professional growth and development. Providing that support to further one’s understanding and to help them achieve personal growth is critical in today’s schools. Unfortunately, too often we do not receive that support. I believe the key word in this standard is “empower.” I believe there are administrators out there that do not want to empower their staff members and they do not realize the disservice they are doing to their school. If we empower teachers, they will be more comfortable and more confident teaching through technology.
ReplyDeleteI agree whole heartedly. We must provide the technology, staff development, and the constant support in order for this to be properly implemented. With the use of PLC, our teachers can share their ideas of different ways the technology has benefitted them and their students.

ReplyDeleteI think everything you touched on is important. There are several components to consider in devising a 21st Century school. I don't disagree that there is the need provide professional develop to help teachers with implementation. I believe that this strategy would be a part of the big picture or VISION that admin has for the school. Vision-then-plan-then-development-to integration.
